of ethical pharmaceuticals. OTC (or “over
the counter”) drugs are drugs intended for
self-medication that consumers can obtain in either
the retail or the wholesale marketplace.
The pharmaceutical industry is a $400 billion
industry, which presently employs some 3,000,000
people worldwide. It is an industry that sees
a composite growth of 8-10% every year.
The major divisions of the industry are: cardiovascular,
central nervous system, anti-infective, respiratory,
analgesic, cancer, anti-ulcer, dermatological,
diabetes, and vaccination.
